Although many countries are on the road towards a fully digitised radio industry there are also countries that are in the process of starting off on this initiative.
Last year saw WorldDMB undertaking workshops and demonstrations in new pre-launch digital radio markets such as in Indonesia. WorldDMB worked closely with the Indonesian regulator and the broadcasting industry to assist them in their journey to bring digital radio to market.
This year started off with workshops and demonstrations of the DAB family of standards in Thailand. WorldDMB will be participating and hosting further workshops in the coming months in new upcoming digital radio markets.
Utilising the WorldDMB experts network to build your own digital radio network
Those looking to make the transition to digital radio are able to benefit and learn from the very many different experiences of countries that are already on the road towards digitising their own radio industries. For example the international broadcasting industry is able to compare and learn from the network rollout experience of Australia which differs in many ways to that, for example of the German network rollout, or even the Norwegian, Swiss and UK processes.
WorldDMB are able to utilise its network of international contacts, and members that represent the whole digital radio value chain. From silicon solution providers, to automotive representatives to country roll-out bodies WorldDMB taps into the network to provide support to these new markets in Europe and Asia Pacific.
Harmonising the future of digital radio
My final note is that WorldDMB are confident that the recent EBU technical recommendation (R 138 Digital Radio Distribution In Europe) will bring assurance to the European market. The recommendation states that the future of radio is digital and that the DAB+ is the recommended platform to make this transition on. You can read more about the EBU R 138 here.
